role of international organisations in maintaining sustainability

using resources sustainably implies on using resources in such a way that the ability of future of future generations to use resources is not handicapped. policies regarding this are usually made by national governments however the use of common access resources has an impact on other nations as well such as the case between Indonesia   and Singapore, there was burning of tress in Indonesia  and there was smog  preset in Singapore , in such a scenario intervention from an international organisation  is necessary to reduce the negative externality.

there are several collaborations  formed between international bodies, such as the Montreal protocol of 1987 , it came into effect on 1989 and its main aim was to reduce pollutants in the atmosphere which affect the ozone layer

another collaboration is the Kyoto protocol of 1997. there was a conclusion got during this that more economically developed countries (MEDC 'S) cause more pollution than less economically developed countries (LEDC'S) and MEDC'S already have achieved their economic growth and hence more limitations on the pollution caused by them than one caused by LEDC'S . the Kyoto protocol was implemented  for 15 however it was inefficient because it wasn't implemented properly however some people say that the limitations were too small  to have a significant impact even if it was implemented properly

the most recent collaboration was in paris the COP21 summit in that 55 countries agreed to limit their pollution.

the cap and trade system used by the EU is also highly effective . in this system every permit allows the permit holder to release one tonne of carbon dioxide  into the environment. firms can sell their permits to the other firms and this scheme also acts as an incentive to pollute less or to install new technology which is more efficient
